Managing Workspace and Projects

SmartPLS stores all your projects and data files in one folder, the workspace. You choose it the first time you start SmartPLS (selecting a workspace folder). It can be on your computer or on a cloud drive.

Where is my workspace?

SmartPLS shows the current workspace folder at the top of the Workspace panel, above your projects.

Unless you chose another folder, the workspace is here:
  • macOS: /Users/<name>/smartpls_workspace
  • Windows: C:\Users\<name>\smartpls_workspace

My projects are gone after reinstalling

Your projects are not lost. After a reinstall, SmartPLS may start with a new, empty workspace, but your old workspace folder is still there. Open it again:
  1. Choose Files › Choose workspace….
  2. Select your old workspace folder (see the default locations above).

Moving your projects to another computer

Moving your license too? Moving SmartPLS to a new computer covers both.
  1. On the old computer, find the workspace folder (it is shown in the Workspace panel).
  2. Close SmartPLS, then copy the whole folder to the new computer, for example with a USB stick.
  3. Start SmartPLS on the new computer.
  4. Choose Files › Choose workspace… and select the copied folder.
