SmartPLS License Policy for Educational Courses
To support educational initiatives and community learning, we offer special course licenses for participants under the following conditions:
Available License Options
For eligible courses, the following license options are available for attendees:
- 2-week license — free of charge
- 1-month license — 10 EUR per attendee
- 2-month license — 20 EUR per attendee
The license period always begins on the official course start date.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for course licenses:
- The course must be publicly announced on a website, event page, university platform, or a comparable public platform (including our weblink: https://www.smartpls.com).
- Course organizers must clearly communicate our Fair Use Policy on their course pages.
University Curriculum Courses
The discounted and free course license program is intended for independent workshops, trainings, and community-driven educational events.
If SmartPLS is used in university courses that are officially part of a degree program or academic curriculum, regular commercial or academic licensing applies. In such cases, we expect universities, departments, or course organizers to either:
- purchase a SmartPLS licence for all participating students, or
- equip university computer labs with properly licensed SmartPLS installations.
Official curriculum courses are generally not eligible for the free or discounted course license program described above.
Fair Use Policy
We reserve the right to monitor the usage of course licenses in order to prevent misuse of the program.
Users who repeatedly enroll in courses primarily to obtain free or discounted licenses (“course hopping”) may be excluded from all future course license programs. Such restrictions may be applied automatically and without prior notice.
Course organizers are expected to take reasonable measures to discourage and exclude users who participate in courses primarily for the purpose of obtaining licenses rather than genuinely attending the course.
We also reserve the right to exclude entire courses or course groups from the course license program if we detect abuse, misuse, or attempts to circumvent the intent of this policy.
